Well, just when you think you’ve seen it all in the world of imperfection, you come across a story like this one. It appears that a 12-year-old girl was suspended from school for two days for streaking. Now before you lynch this poor girl, we should tell you that this doesn’t involve the traditional way of streaking (what Patty does in her neighborhood for entertainment). No, it involves having color streaks put in her hair. Her mother gave her this gift for her birthday, only to learn that her daughter would earn a two-day suspension at school for her stylish streaks. (See video clip below.) We just have to wonder what kind of message this is sending to the kids in the school? “Whoa, I can like look really pretty and get a vacation from school.”
What do you think? Does this seem appropriate? And if so, does this mean Gina should be suspended from work every time she gets her hair colored? No wonder fake blondes have more fun. They don’t have to work or go to school.
Are you freaking kidding me? This poor girl!! The school said it was too distracting, when in fact it was very subtle and very well done (nice going girl’s hairdresser!!) and even if it wasn’t…what happened to free expression? I have sent both of my BOYS into school with blue hair, orange, red, green…sometimes for special occasions, sometimes just cause they feel like it. Kudos to the young lady for expressing herslef, shame shame shame on the school for making this descision.
Though I do see how having wild colors or crazy hair styles can be distracting at school her hair though does not look distracting at all. In our school manual it says no hair coloring at all or distracting styles that is only for our Elementary and Middle schools though not High School for some reason so most likely they have the same policy as our schools.
wow somebody took things to far when i first saw this I fully expected Blue or purple hair done wildly not subtle highlights very professionally done are you kidding me don’t they have more pressing issues to deal with . Like teachers that can’t follow IEP’s lets work on that shall we and leave the minor infractions alone
That’s ridiculous,,, girls love playing with pizzazzy things and flashy blingy stuff,,, leave the kid alone,,,, pathetic….
This is a joke right? Seriously the school people need to rewrite this handbook! What about how many girls who go to school dressed like ladies of the night? Like that never happens there! This girl looked well mannered well dressed and very well spoken. LAY off the little things and focus on the bigger things like drugs, underage drinking, smoking..
This is craziness. Hair color is that distracting?? If so, teachers aren’t doing a very good job of making lessons interesting. Now, if she had piercings the size of saucers in her lips and ears ok…but good grief. Why so much of Zero tolerance?? What happened to individuality? creativity? Just another reason I educate at home…my son does not have to fit into their ‘perfect’ cookie cutter mold ( & he is NT, but I will not have him feel he has to be the same as all the rest).
It’s not like she has a fluorescent pink mohawk. How many of the teachers at the school have highlights?
She is 12 for the love of! If a girl wears a sparkly shirt, is that a distraction also? What is this world coming to!?
come on.i just did the same for my 12 year old daughter and yes she is in 6 th grade also same color of hair a blond and NO her school did not have a problem with this
this is so inocent the girls are just trying to find there way
let the girl be she could be doing worse things
